About

Camden RSL Youth Club Inc has a long standing affiliation with the Camden RSL Club. The Camden RSL Club was established in 1920 to support returning servicemen from WWI and their families. Many of the veterans returning to Australia suffered serious mental and physical disabilities and the RSL performed a vital role in securing ongoing support services.

In 1970, seeing a need to assist the children and youth of the Camden community, local residents approached the Camden RSL Club with the idea of the Club supplying sports equipment. The Camden RSL Club accepted the request, and with the support of locals the Club was an immediate success with boxing, judo and table tennis being the first activities formed.

The existing RSL Youth Club Hall, situated at 47 Cawdor Road Camden, was officially opened by The Honourable Peter Anderson MP, Minister for Police, on 20 February 1983. Mayor of Camden, Alderman Graham Bush stated, “that all sections of the community had contributed generously to the establishment of the Hall”.

The Camden RSL Youth Club plays an important role in the local community, offering an affordable form of social engagement and exercise programs for the younger generations. The Camden RSL Youth Club currently offers weekly classes (during school term) in Little Diggers, Gymnastics and Boxing.
